Paris: Week Four, Day Two

Monday, July 17

Everyone in class was filled with energy today. We all shared stories of what we did over the holiday. Some people went to Disney Paris and watched fireworks there. I’m sad that I didn’t think of that. It sounded wonderful. Others shared their struggles with police. They had their IDs checked multiple times, were moved to other locations multiple times, and eventually gave up. Others snuck into the Champs-Élysées and watched the fireworks there. It was so interesting to hear about everyone’s experience. I was ultimately glad that I just took it easy and stayed away from the crowds.

I don’t have much else to say about today. I did have a funny moment in class where the word avocat came up. It made me laugh as my mind thought about avocados. My classmate wondered why I was laughing. I tried to explain to him the mental imagery of avocados defending someone in court. NOTE: avocat means lawyer. Later, when walking down the street, I saw this sign for a cabinet of avocats. I couldn’t help but chuckle while taking a picture of it!
